To add a WhatsApp share button to your WordPress website, the process is simple and straightforward. Let’s explore how you can do it effortlessly.

Method 1: Add a WhatsApp Share button in WordPress

If you’re interested in adding a WhatsApp share button to your website, there’s a simple method you can follow.

First, you’ll need to install and activate the Sassy Social Share plugin. You can refer to our beginner’s guide on how to install a WordPress plugin for more detailed instructions. Once the plugin is activated, you should go to the Sassy Social Share menu in the admin sidebar.

After that, navigate to the ‘Standard Interface’ tab at the top and scroll down to the ‘Select Sharing Services’ section.

You can select the WhatsApp option by simply checking the box next to it. In addition, you can add share buttons for other social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and more.

Remember to click on the ‘Save Changes’ button to store your settings after you’re done. You can then proceed to the ‘Theme Selection’ tab to customize your share buttons by modifying their size, shape, logo, background color, and more.

To make it easier for users to recognize, it’s advisable to use the WhatsApp brand colors for the share button.

Once you’re satisfied with the customization, click on the ‘Save Changes’ button to store your settings. You can now visit your website to see the WhatsApp share button in action. If you don’t want the WhatsApp button to appear on every page, don’t worry; the plugin also allows you to add it to individual posts and pages.

To add the WhatsApp share button to specific posts and pages, you need to turn off the global display of sharing buttons. To do so, go to the Sassy Social Share page in the WordPress admin sidebar and uncheck the box for the ‘Enable Standard sharing interface’ option.

Then, switch to the ‘Floating Interface’ tab and uncheck the box next to the ‘Enable Floating sharing interface’ option.

Once you’ve disabled the standard and floating social sharing buttons, you can add the WhatsApp share button to any page or post on your website using a shortcode. Simply open the post or page where you want to display the WhatsApp share button in the content editor, or create a new one. Click on the Add Block (+) button at the top left corner and search for the ‘Shortcode’ block. Then, add the block to the page and copy and paste the following shortcode into the ‘Shortcode’ block: [Sassy_Social_Share].

After that, click on the ‘Publish’ or ‘Update’ button to save your changes. Your WhatsApp Share button will appear as expected.

To add the WhatsApp share button to the sidebar of your website, go to the Appearance » Widgets page in the admin sidebar. Locate the ‘Shortcode’ block and add it to the sidebar. Then, copy and paste the shortcode [Sassy_Social_Share] into the block. Finally, click on the ‘Update’ button to store your settings.

If you’re using a block theme, you’ll be using the full site editor and won’t have access to the ‘Widgets’ page. To add the WhatsApp share button, visit the Appearance » Editor option in the admin sidebar and launch the full site editor. Click on the ‘Add Block’ (+) button at the top of the screen and add the ‘Shortcode’ block to any suitable place on your website. Finally, add the shortcode [Sassy_Social_Share] to the block and click on the ‘Save’ button at the top to store your settings.

Method 2: Add a WhatsApp Chatbox Button in WordPress

This guide explains how to add a WhatsApp chatbox button in WordPress so that users can send you direct messages through your WhatsApp phone number. Please note that messages won’t be received directly in the WordPress dashboard but can be accessed through the WhatsApp mobile app, web interface, and desktop software.

To begin, you’ll need to install and activate the Click to Chat plugin. Once activated, a Click to Chat menu item will appear in your WordPress admin dashboard’s sidebar. Click on this menu item and enter your business phone number in the “WhatsApp Number” field where you’ll receive messages. Then, enter a default message in the “Pre-Filled Message” field, and select a style for your WhatsApp chatbox and its position and size from the dropdown menus in the “Style, Position” section.

In the “Display Settings” section, select the pages where you want to display the WhatsApp chatbox by checking the “Global” box next to the desired options. You can also select the “Hide” option to remove the chatbox from a specific page. Click “Save Changes” to store your settings.

Next, head over to the Click to Chat » Greetings page to choose a Greeting dialog from a dropdown menu, which will be shown with the WhatsApp button on your page. Customize the header, main content, and call to action of your greeting dialog in the “Customizable Design” section by selecting background colors for your main content, header, and message box. Once done, click “Save Changes” to save your settings.

To add the WhatsApp button to a specific page or post using the block editor, go to Pages » Add New page from the admin sidebar, click the “Add Block” (+) button, and select the “Shortcode” block. Copy and paste the shortcode [ht-ctc-chat] into the block, then click “Publish” to save.

To add the WhatsApp button as a widget in the sidebar, go to Appearance » Widgets page from the WordPress sidebar, click the “Sidebar” tab, click the “Add Block” (+) button, add the “Shortcode” block to the sidebar, and paste the shortcode [ht-ctc-chat]. Finally, click “Update” to store your settings.

If you’re using a block-based theme with a full site editor, go to Appearance » Editor page to launch the full site editor. Click the “Add Block” (+) button, add the “Shortcode” block to your preferred place on the site, and paste the shortcode [ht-ctc-chat]. Click “Update” to save your changes.
