How To Use Virus Scanner In cPanel

In this tutorial, I will show you how you can use a virus scanner in cPanel.

The Virus Scanner in the cPanel allows you to easily scan your cPanel account for malware, viruses, and other types of malicious threats that may be affecting your account. You have the option to scan all your files, email files, and files in public web, or FTP directories. One of the tools Virus Scanner uses to find viruses and malware is ClamAV, an open-source antivirus program.

How To Use Virus Scanner In cPanel

  • Log into your cPanel.
  • Go to the Advanced section and select Virus Scanner.
  • In the next page, under Start a New Scan, you will be given options of directory to scan.
  1. Scan Entire Home Directory: this option scans all the files in your cPanel account.
  2. Scan Mail: this option scans files in the mail directory in your cPanel account.
  3. Scan Public FTP Space: this option scans public_ftp directory in your cPanel account.
  4. Scan Public Web Space: this option scans public_html directory in your cPanel account.
  • Click Scan Now. Then wait for the scanning to complete. Depending on the amount of files in the directory, the scanning may take a while.
  • When the scanning is completed, if any virus is detected, you will have option to quarantine, destroy, or ignore the infected file.
